Naturopathy has been around since the time of Hippocrates, also known as Vis Medicatrix Naturae or the healing power of nature with six underlying principles:
* The healing power of nature
* Identify the cause of diseases
* Do no harm
* Treat the whole person
* Practitioner as teacher
* Prevention is better than cure
Sue applies a naturopathic approach to treat each client as an individual with their own unique strengths and weaknesses with regards to physical and emotional health and taking into account their constitution, inherited predispositions to pathological states, diet and nutrition as well as life style factors.
A comprehensive history is obtained with an initial consultation taking about 90 minutes. This includes kinesiology (muscle response testing) for food sensitivities and an iridology assessment (looking for inherited strengths, weaknesses and general wellbeing), this is a very useful tool when ascertaining preventative health measures. A mix of western and eastern health philosophies are incorporated.
Naturopaths do not diagnose conditions but aim to promote, restore and maintain health.
